Lancome Rouge In Love! (Video)

By Doshka Harvey

LancomeRougeLove.jpg
I am in love with Lancome's Rouge In Love collection of lipsticks.  I'm particularly smitten with Midnight Rose (377N).  It's a rich red that's not too deep with a slight seeming hint of pink.

Nana! Good Food, Done Well

By Doshka Harvey

Nana_ParkSlope1.jpg
I unearthed a video of a restaurant review I did, for an online publication named Brooklyn Exposed, back in 2010 about an eatery located in Park Slope called Nana.  And, since I love recommending great places to dine, I could not help sharing this one with those of you who did not see it originally on the Brooklyn Exposed site.

Bus Ride Down New York City's 5th Ave.

By Doshka Harvey

Though the holidays are now over, I wanted to share these mini video clips I recorded whilst riding on the M5 bus down 5th Avenue here in New York City.  My journey began on 57th Street and 5th and ended just by Rockefeller Center at 47th and 5th.

There's never a lack of tourists in NYC and on 5th Ave., forget about it.  As I recorded, not only did I capture people strolling and shopping, but also filmed the bright lights and some of the fancy designer stores that line the streets.

While there was a world of its own taking place outside, there was another alive within the confines of the M5 bus as it made its journey down the avenue.  The international chatter abounded greatly in differing languages as people discussed where they were heading and whom they were gearing to buy presents for.  Lingering idly above all of this was the white noise produced by the bus engine, as the Christmas music from the exterior attempted desperately to infiltrate on our approach to Rock Center.

The After Show With Wendy Williams

By Doshka Harvey

Wendy Williams has been doing her new After Show segment this season and I had the great opportunity to be her guest yesterday.  She is actually a very down to earth person and makes you feel like you are talking to an old friend.  Wendy is always herself, which I love. You will get no, here's a word she'll appreciate, fake-ation from her.  How you doin'?

So, we chatted about the Jerseylicious girls, being a Bond girl, her gorgeous dressing room and more.

Check it out:

Jay Sean Interview At The NASDAQ Marketsite

By Doshka Harvey

On Monday, January 3, 2011, singer-songwriter Jay Sean was the first person to ring the NASDAQ closing bell.  The chart-topping and multi-platinum artist of hits "Down" and "Do You Remember" sat down with me at the NASDAQ Marketsite studio to discuss what it means to ring the closing bell, his upcoming sophomore album on Cash Money Records, Freeze Time - due out in early spring, and his amazing success in the music industry.

His first and current single from Freeze Time, "2012 (It Ain't The End)" featuring Nicki Minaj, can be downloaded on iTunes.

One Camera Foodie (Ep.3) - Vanessa's Dumpling House

By Doshka Harvey

DumplingHouse.jpgDelicious!  Delicious!  Delicious!  Have I said that word enough?  It's the best way to describe the chive and pork fried dumplings, as well as the pork fried buns from Vanessa's Dumpling House.

Located in Chinatown, here in New York City, it is good eats on a budget.  These dumplings cost me a mere $1 for 4; and the pork buns, $1 for 3.  An absolute bargain!  The juices ooze out upon taking a bite - fresh, hot, savory and flavorful.  Simple culinary goodness!

While cooking it's always nice to have an enjoyable snack until your meal is ready.  I think I made the right selection and my tummy loves it.  Happy Holidays!

Dumplings:  $1-$4 (depending on the flavor and quantity), Buns:  $1-$1.50

NASFT Summer Fancy Food Show 2010 - Feature Story

Having a refreshing drink in the summer time - such as a tall glass of iced tea - is one of the simple yet great joys of the season to cool one down.  Wouldn't you welcome a tea that could not only cool you down during the dog days, but also quench your thirst all year 'round?  Well, such a beverage does exist and it comes from New Leaf Brands.

New Leaf is undoubtedly taking the drink industry by storm with their real teas consisting of four categories of teas with 13 flavors, as well as their 4 deliciously distinctive lemonades.

All_Teasmini.jpgWhite Tea:  Honeydew, strawberry.

Green Tea:  Ginseng & Honey, mango, plum.

Blue Tea:  Lemon, peach, raspberry, diet lemon, diet peach.

Black Tea:  Lime & Mint, sweet tea, unsweetened.

All-Lemonadesmini.jpg

Lemonades:  The Tiger, strawberry, homemade, blackberry.

The discerning consumer would be happy to know that this product is not only great tasting, but also made with natural fruit flavors, 100% pure organic cane sugar and no HFCS (high fructose corn syrup).

Founded in 2004 on a shoestring budget, New Leaf is considered "the official beverage of taste."  At the NASFT Summer Fancy Food Show 2010 we had the great opportunity to chat with Founder & CEO Eric Skae about his growing company.

(Note:  We do apologize that the audio is not perfect, however, we promise to make it better next time.  FYI - I actually had the peach flavor in my hand at the end of the video.  Thanks for watching!)

One Camera Foodie (Ep.1) - Hiroko's Place

By Doska Harvey

What a refreshing delight I had today at Hiroko's Place, a Japanese tea/coffeehouse, located in Soho.  While the cafe does serve food, I was specifically there to sample the Green Tea Parfait ($8.50), which I've heard friends rave about.  And, what can I say?  They truly do have reason to be raving.  Take a look at this beauty!

While I mention in the video that the parfait consists of strawberries, apples, sweet red beans and whipped cream, let me add that there are also cubed pieces of cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon which lend to a very complimentary taste.  Oh, let me not forget, the bits of Corn Flakes placed at the bottom of the glass create a sweet crunch at the end.  How clever is that?  I love it!

Dockers 'Khakis Make The Man' Event

By Doshka Harvey

A great night was had last night in NYC at the Dockers 'Khakis Make the Man' event hosted by the very handsome actor Peter Facinelli.  Some of you may more readily know him as the character Carlisle Cullen, from the 'Twilight' movies.  While Peter played host, tunes for the evening were provided by none other than DJ Joel Madden from the band Good Charlotte.

'Khakis Make the Man' was sponsored by Dockers and Esquire in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Father's Day and to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.

Being an event for such a good cause, guests were able to make a donation to Habitat and get a pair of Dockers khakis which could be customized right away since stylists and tailors were standing by on site.  How clever!

SpecialtyDrinks1.jpgThis sign displays (though not very clear from this image) the list of Khaki specialty cocktails for the evening such at the Khaki Daddy, Khaki-Licious and the Khaki-Tini.  Delish!

MalindaWilliams1.jpgActress Malinda Williams was in the house.  Looking beautiful as always.  She is actually in a movie due out later this year called "Nailed" with a star-studded cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel, James Marsden and Tracy Morgan, just to name a few.

JoelMadden1.jpg Here's a quick clip of Joel Madden djing.

Hilarious dialogue between me and Peter Facinelli:

Me:  Can I take a photo of you?

Peter:  Yes (he gestures for me to come closer).

Me:  Oh, no, I want one of you.  Not with me.

Peter:  You don't want one with me??? (He's funny!)

Me:  Yes, but I want one of you first for my site, then one of you with me second.

Peter:  Okay.

And, for the second photo he held the camera and below is the result.  LOL. Oh, Carlisle!  I mean Peter :)  Such a nice guy.

Carol Brodie - Rarities Fine Jewelry Preview

By Doshka Harvey

I had a great time today with Carol Brodie at her tweet up event to preview her newest jewelry pieces in celebration of her 1-year anniversary of Rarities. Check out my interview below with her as she discusses her collection.

Carol, who formerly worked as the Global Director of Communications for Harry Winston, is quite personable and easy to talk to.  I love the enthusiasm she displays for her work and collection.  When she speaks her knowledge and experience dealing with jewelry clearly comes across.

Raritiescombomini.jpgOne should expect nothing but great sophistication of this beauty (might I add, she's 46 and looks divine - move over Kim Cattrall) after all, she has worked with Hollywood glitterati in the past such as Halle Berry, Kate Hudson and Reese Witherspoon, just to name a few.

Rarities10mini.jpgTune into HSN on June 19th from 5-8pm when Carol will be launching the Rarities One-Year Anniversary Collection live.
