On Monday, January 3, 2011, singer-songwriter Jay Sean was the first person to ring the NASDAQ closing bell. The chart-topping and multi-platinum artist of hits "Down" and "Do You Remember" sat down with me at the NASDAQ Marketsite studio to discuss what it means to ring the closing bell, his upcoming sophomore album on Cash Money Records, Freeze Time - due out in early spring, and his amazing success in the music industry.

Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Have I said that word enough? It's the best way to describe the chive and pork fried dumplings, as well as the pork fried buns from Vanessa's Dumpling House.
Located in Chinatown, here in New York City, it is good eats on a budget. These dumplings cost me a mere $1 for 4; and the pork buns, $1 for 3. An absolute bargain! The juices ooze out upon taking a bite - fresh, hot, savory and flavorful. Simple culinary goodness!

NASFT Summer Fancy Food Show 2010 - Feature Story
Having a refreshing drink in the summer time - such as a tall glass of iced tea - is one of the simple yet great joys of the season to cool one down. Wouldn't you welcome a tea that could not only cool you down during the dog days, but also quench your thirst all year 'round? Well, such a beverage does exist and it comes from New Leaf Brands.
New Leaf is undoubtedly taking the drink industry by storm with their real teas consisting of four categories of teas with 13 flavors, as well as their 4 deliciously distinctive lemonades.
White Tea: Honeydew, strawberry.
Green Tea: Ginseng & Honey, mango, plum.
Blue Tea: Lemon, peach, raspberry, diet lemon, diet peach.
Black Tea: Lime & Mint, sweet tea, unsweetened.

Lemonades: The Tiger, strawberry, homemade, blackberry.
The discerning consumer would be happy to know that this product is not only great tasting, but also made with natural fruit flavors, 100% pure organic cane sugar and no HFCS (high fructose corn syrup).
Founded in 2004 on a shoestring budget, New Leaf is considered "the official beverage of taste." At the NASFT Summer Fancy Food Show 2010 we had the great opportunity to chat with Founder & CEO Eric Skae about his growing company.

What a refreshing delight I had today at Hiroko's Place, a Japanese tea/coffeehouse, located in Soho. While the cafe does serve food, I was specifically there to sample the Green Tea Parfait ($8.50), which I've heard friends rave about. And, what can I say? They truly do have reason to be raving. Take a look at this beauty!
While I mention in the video that the parfait consists of strawberries, apples, sweet red beans and whipped cream, let me add that there are also cubed pieces of cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon which lend to a very complimentary taste. Oh, let me not forget, the bits of Corn Flakes placed at the bottom of the glass create a sweet crunch at the end. How clever is that? I love it!

A great night was had last night in NYC at the Dockers 'Khakis Make the Man' event hosted by the very handsome actor Peter Facinelli. Some of you may more readily know him as the character Carlisle Cullen, from the 'Twilight' movies. While Peter played host, tunes for the evening were provided by none other than DJ Joel Madden from the band Good Charlotte.
'Khakis Make the Man' was sponsored by Dockers and Esquire in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Father's Day and to raise money for Habitat for Humanity.
Being an event for such a good cause, guests were able to make a donation to Habitat and get a pair of Dockers khakis which could be customized right away since stylists and tailors were standing by on site. How clever!

This sign displays (though not very clear from this image) the list of Khaki specialty cocktails for the evening such at the Khaki Daddy, Khaki-Licious and the Khaki-Tini. Delish!
Actress Malinda Williams was in the house. Looking beautiful as always. She is actually in a movie due out later this year called "Nailed" with a star-studded cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel, James Marsden and Tracy Morgan, just to name a few.

Here's a quick clip of Joel Madden djing.
Hilarious dialogue between me and Peter Facinelli:
Me: Can I take a photo of you?
Peter: Yes (he gestures for me to come closer).
Me: Oh, no, I want one of you. Not with me.
Peter: You don't want one with me??? (He's funny!)
Me: Yes, but I want one of you first for my site, then one of you with me second.
Peter: Okay.
And, for the second photo he held the camera and below is the result. LOL. Oh, Carlisle! I mean Peter :) Such a nice guy.
Great night for a good cause!

I had a great time today with Carol Brodie at her tweet up event to preview her newest jewelry pieces in celebration of her 1-year anniversary of Rarities. Check out my interview below with her as she discusses her collection.
Carol, who formerly worked as the Global Director of Communications for Harry Winston, is quite personable and easy to talk to. I love the enthusiasm she displays for her work and collection. When she speaks her knowledge and experience dealing with jewelry clearly comes across.
One should expect nothing but great sophistication of this beauty (might I add, she's 46 and looks divine - move over Kim Cattrall) after all, she has worked with Hollywood glitterati in the past such as Halle Berry, Kate Hudson and Reese Witherspoon, just to name a few.
Tune into HSN on June 19th from 5-8pm when Carol will be launching the Rarities One-Year Anniversary Collection live.
