Recently I decided to stop by the famous Parisian macaron maker, Maison Laduree, which has had a New York City store front since late 2011 on the Upper East Side.
I am an extremely big lover of macarons, but never did I realize that I had to almost be a "baller" to afford such a simple and delicious confection. At $2.70 each, one better be ready to spend some serious cash at Laduree. And, if you opt to have your treats placed in a decorative box adorned with a Laduree labeled ribbon, expect to to pay for even that.
My purchase of 8 macarons were a very dear $25, including the box.
As much as I love the palatable joy that they bring me, I won't be adding them to my weekly grocery shopping list any time soon. Entenmann's cakes at the end of the supermarket aisle is not so bad, for now, until I become a true "baller." :)
