Nothing compares to the love a parent has for his/her child.  The same thing can be said about the love a child has for her parent in Life, Above All.

Living in a village near Johannesburg, South Africa where the stigma of having AIDS still breathes strong, a loving and selfless 12-year-old, Chanda, played by acting newcomer Khomotso Manyaka, cares, protects and embraces her mother despite nasty rumors being spread about her.

This movie, based on the novel Chanda's Secret by Allan Stratton and a hit at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, demonstrates the inner strength of a child willing to go above and beyond to ensure her mother's health and safety.  Giving up on life or her mother is not an option for Chanda.

Currently playing at the Film Forum in New York until Thursday, July 28
