Last week I had the great opportunity to attend an exclusive preview - held by Sotheby's, Architectural Digest and GIA Laboratory & Research -- of the Magnificent Jewels.  These are jewels being auctioned off by Sotheby's this Thursday, December 9th, and what a collection it is.  If you ever questioned whether or not diamonds truly are a girl's best friend, be assured, this particular sale will dispel any of your doubts.

At the preview event, diamonds and pearls were discussed by Gary Schuler, Senior Vice President and Director of Jewellery at Sotheby's and Tom Moses, Senior Vice President of GIA Laboratory & Research.  Listening to these two gentlemen speak so eloquently about jewels showcased why they are masters in their field.  Schuler has overseen Sotheby's Magnificent and Important Jewels sales in New York since 2002.  When it comes to gemologists, Tom Moses is the world's most respected and accomplished.  He has been SVP of the GIA Laboratory & Research since October 2005.
